Maratus is a necklace inspired by the shape of the spiders.

During the winter session of 2024,  I took the course "Color Applications for Metal" from the Jewelry + Metalsmithing Department. In this course, we were asked to combine metalwork with existing objects to create jewelry.

While browsing through the shelves at Wolf E Myrow (a jewelry supply warehouse), I was drawn to various stones and components, particularly a small, round, green glass bead. They reminded me of spider eyes. Inspired by this, I created this necklace.

▲ The front legs of the Maratus are fixed to the body with rivets, allowing for flexible movement.

▲ Small hooks behind the front legs allow the spider's body to be detached from the web.

▲ Testing different types of setting techniques and practicing metalsmithing skills.
